Assisi
Days 9 & 10

Hotel Umbra is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Assisi.

The elevator from the parking lot was out of order, so we had a hike up the stairs to get to the city.

The scenic landscape and the aged stone, greenery, and flowers make great photos! As you can tell, my camera gravitates toward those photo opportunities!

St Carlo Acutis - canonized on 9/07/25. Resting place is Santa Maria Maggiore, Assisi.

Our first night in Assisi was still rainy when finally decided to have dinner at Ristorante Vino e Cucina near our hotel. We had a wonderful, lengthy conversation with the couple sitting next to us when we noticed they were speaking in German. The food and wine were also very good. When they started sweeping around us, we decided it was probably time to go!

Proudly displayed in a shop window!

PIZZA - with artichokes - delicious!

Our last night in Assisi Michela gave us the option of participating in a wine tasting at a local winery, SAIO. All but one or two of our group attended. It was beautiful, our host was great, we learned a great deal about their wines, and a fun time was had by all! We were given an opportunity to purchase bottles of wine or olive oil to have shipped or wine to take with us. And many of us did!
Elusive yet again

Hotel Umbra has a rooftop terrace with a panoramic view. It was a bit cool up there, but a beautiful evening. several people brought bottles of wine to share, and continued the party into the evening. Even our bus driver, Ricardo, joined us, as it was his last night with us.
